OffshoreTech LLC rounded out their 2016 by signing a contract with Australian company RocOil to perform engineering and design verification of the conceptual and detailed platform design of the WeiZhou 120-8E field development. The platform, an unconventional and self-installed design similar in configuration to a jackup, employs strand jacks to lower its legs and raise the topside deck during installation, along with a suction pile foundation.

On October 24th, OTL's President, Jim Li, visited the Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute (GEDI) with a delegation. Last year, GEDI had granted an Offshore Transformer Platform Key Technology Study project to OTL. Mr. Li extended his gratitude to the Institute and offered a briefing about the ongoing project as well as proposed areas in which both sides could participate. OTL and GEDI jointly discussed the development of technologies such as offshore wind platforms and deepwater platforms.

On October 24th, OTL's President, Jim Li, led a delegation to visit South China University of Technology in Guangzhou, China. OTL introduced in detail their own capabilities and R&D ideas. Chen Chaohe, Vice Dean Director of the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation, fully recognized OTL's comprehensive strength and expressed his appreciation for the visit. Chen also hoped that both sides could further future cooperation for building student training, joint research project applications, and expert lectures.
