OffshoreTech LLC rounded out their 2016 by signing a contract with Australian company RocOil to perform engineering and design verification of the conceptual and detailed platform design of the WeiZhou 120-8E field development. The platform, an unconventional and self-installed design similar in configuration to a jackup, employs strand jacks to lower its legs and raise the topside deck during installation, along with a suction pile foundation.

A design of this kind is innovative for South China Sea application, as it will face harsh environmental and unfavorable foundation soil conditions. OTL will work closely with the client to resolve the difficult design issues, particularly relating to the foundation, transportation, and installation.
