SOW and Facts: OTL performed pre-service design for the world’s largest Spar, covering the engineering of float-out, float-on, transportation and float-off operations. The scope of work includes the design of grillage structures, buoyancy tanks, sea-fastening structures, and transportation analysis of the heavy lifting vessel (HLV, Dockwise Vanguard), Spar Hull, grillage/buoyancy tanks, and sea-fastening structures. The analysis includes hydrodynamic analysis, design wave analysis (based on hogging/sagging moment, shear force and grillage support reactions), and structural analysis (strength, buckling and fatigue), which involves material (wood) and geometry (contact/separation) non-linearity.
